The first event within the Memorandum of Understanding on the implementation of a joint cultural project between Gazprom and Austrian OMV – the theatrical gala performance “Imperial Capitals: Saint Petersburg – Vienna” – takes place on October 4 at the Grand Hall of Dmitry Shostakovich St.Petersburg Academic Philharmonia.

This performance is a key cultural event of Saint Petersburg International Gas Forum. Among the guests are Alexey Miller Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Rainer Seele, CEO of OMV as well as heads of oil and gas companies. Over 100 children of social institutions of Saint Petersburg and Leningrad Region are invited to the event.

The event is a musical performance united by a single plot that stresses the main idea of the project, the imperial spirit of Saint Petersburg and Vienna. The leading musicians, artists, opera singers and ensembles from Russia and Austria are engaged in the show.

All money raised from the ticket sale will be donated to charity foundation that supports providing medical treatment for children.

In response, the next cultural event within the implementation of the Memorandum will be held on December 14, 2016, in imperial Hofburg Palace of Vienna.

Along with partnership in energy, Gazprom and OMV also cooperate in the cultural sphere.

Several important cultural and social projects have been implemented with support of Gazprom Group and OMV in the last years.

For over 10 years, Gazprom Group and OMV have been helping the comprehensive international Open World project for children that is implemented by Austrian foundation “Energy for Life”, under the auspices of UNESCO and UNICEF.

The background for the gala event in Saint Petersburg was laid on April 1st, 2016, when Alexey Miller and Rainer Seele signed a number of documents on the further development of strategic cooperation between the two companies, including the Memorandum of understanding on the implementation of a joint cultural project.
