Meeting of Gazprom and KOGAS Joint Working Group held
The Gazprom Reception Hall Bogorodskoye today hosted the sixth meeting of the Joint Working Group (JWG) of Gazprom and Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS).
The meeting was moderated by the JWG Co-Chairmen – Alexander Ananenkov, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Lee Byung-Ho, Senior Executive Vice President of KOGAS.
The parties discussed the prospects for natural gas supplies from Russia to the Republic of Korea under the Agreement of Cooperation in the Gas Industry between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Korea. In addition, the meeting addressed issues of interaction in staff training and qualification upgrading, the progress with the Sci-Tech Cooperation Program as well as possible cooperation in LNG projects in third countries.
On October 17, 2006, Seoul saw the signing of the Agreement of Cooperation in the Gas Industry between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Korea, pursuant to which Gazprom and KOGAS were identified as authorized companies overseeing natural gas deliveries from Russia to the Republic of Korea.
The Agreement of Cooperation between Gazprom and KOGAS had been entered into on May 12, 2003.
To implement the Agreement the parties set up a standing Joint Working Group. The previous meeting of JWG was held in April 2007 in the Republic of Korea.
