Gazprom delegation visits Greece

Led by Alexander Medvedev, a Gazprom Deputy Chairman of the Management Committee, a Gazprom delegation paid a working visit to Greece.

In the course of the visit a meeting between Alexander Medvedev and Greek Development Minister Christos Folias took place.

The parties considered further Russian – Greek cooperation prospects in the gas sector including possible increase of Russian gas supplies to Greece, renewal of existing contracts beyond 2016 and the Gazprom Group operation in the Greek market.

The meeting also addressed issues of Greece’s participation in the South Stream project.

The parties confirmed their interest in deepening mutually beneficial long-term partnership between Russia and Greece in the energy sector in the context of liberalization of Greek energy carriers market.

Russian natural gas is supplied to Greece pursuant to the Intergovernmental Agreement of October 7, 1987 as well as the associated Contract signed between Soyuzgazexport (currently – Gazprom Export) and the Public Gas Corporation of Greece DEPA. The Contract runs until 2016 and stipulates its renewal option. In 2007 Gazprom Export supplied Greece with some 3.14 bcm of gas.
