All his life, Vladimir Kulikov, head of the Motor Vehicles Shop at the Privolnenskoye Gas Pipeline Operation Center, has been dealing with motor vehicles in one way or another. Mr. Kulikov liked to reassemble old motor scooters and motorcycles when he was just a little boy.
He took after his father, who worked as a tractor driver for more than 40 years. And that is why Mr. Kulikov chose his future profession without a second thought. After graduating from a general education school, he enrolled in Stavropol Agriculture Institute and majored in mechanization of agriculture. He did mandatory military service and for four years worked as a maintenance man in the local collective farm’s garage. At that time, Mr. Kulikov had more than 120 motor vehicles to take care of. But then “the chaotic nineties” came and the collective farm ceased to exist. Mr. Kulikov was faced with the need to look for a new job. One day he got word that there was an opening for a vehicle mechanic position at the Privolnenskaya Gas Compressor Station and approached Nikolay Klimenko, who was then director of the Station. Mr. Kulikov got the job, and was soon promoted to a vehicle fleet engineer. It was in the year 1992. For more than 25 years now, Vladimir Kulikov has been working in the Privolnenskoye Gas Pipeline Operation Center, 17 of them as head of the Motor Vehicles Shop.
“Motor vehicles are literally the ‘feet’ of any company,” says Mr. Kulikov. “A company as a whole can ‘stand’ confidently only if its motor vehicle fleet is good and sound. The staff of our Motor Vehicles Shop is 66 people, 25 of them are working at the Salsk gas compressor service. Our team includes not only car drivers, but also tractor drivers, repairmen, refueling workers, mechanics, a technical specialist and a dispatcher. It is their work that ensures robust operation of 75 vehicles of various purpose.”

As pointed out by Mr. Kulikov, the subdivision only hires reliable and responsible people. It helps a lot that Privolnoye is a rather small village where everybody generally knows each other. The Motor Vehicles Shop has many times received certificates of merit and letters of commendation for its well-coordinated and productive work. It has been repeatedly awarded at the Best Specialist/Worker of the Privolnenskoye Gas Pipeline Operation Center corporate competition. In 2009, the Motor Vehicles Shop’s team became the prizewinner of the health and safety competition among the branches of Gazprom Transgaz Stavropol. And in 2013, Vladimir Kulikov was granted a commendation from Gazprom for contributing greatly to the gas sector development and for long years of diligent work.
“I do love my job,” explains Mr. Kulikov when asked about the secret of his long career. “It is good to know that the work I do is of value and is helpful to others. I am very much attached to my small home village of Privolnoye and could never imagine my life without it. At the Privolnenskoye Gas Pipeline Operation Center, my wife works in the Administration and my son – in the Corporate Security Service, so it is obvious that my home and work are closely intertwined. I believe that the most important thing in my job is to ensure the reliability of the Operation Center’s vehicle fleet and prevent any possible accidents so that everyone always returns home safe.”
