St. Petersburg Mining University
St. Petersburg Mining University is known as Russia’s first higher technical education institution. Founded in 1773 by the Decree of Catherine the Great, it was meant to put the ideas of Peter the Great and Mikhail Lomonosov into practice by training professionals in the field of mining, a basic Russian industry. The University is based in St. Petersburg.
With its unique research facilities, the University successfully leads and takes part in a range of international, federal and interdisciplinary sci-tech programs aimed at solving fundamental and applied problems in geology, mining, metallurgy, economics, and ecology.
