Alexander Koryakin, Director General of Gazprom Dobycha Urengoy, prefaced the cleanup with an encouraging speech. He noted that care for the environment is among the priorities of the company's environmental policy and that environmental cleanups have become a good corporate tradition. “Participation in such actions is a form of civic activism. We have to start with ourselves and with our surroundings if we want to achieve something big,” he added.
