Gasan Nabiev
Gasan Nabiev was born in 1954. In 1976 he graduated from the Azerbaijan Polytechnic Institute. Mr. Nabiev started his career as a construction engineer with the USSR Gas Industry Ministry’s Volgogradneftemash Science and Production Association.
Over 1986 to 1998 served as Director of the Volgogradneftemash Kotelnikovo Valve Plant, RAO Gazprom.
Between 1998 and 2004 – Director General of Volgogradneftemash, OAO Gazprom.
In September 2004 was appointed Director General of Volgogradtransgaz (present Gazprom transgaz Volgograd).
Has been Deputy of the Volgograd Regional Duma since 2003.
Company History
1946 – commercial natural gas reserves discovered in the Archeda oil and gas field.
October 1953 – commissioning of the Archeda – Stalingrad gas trunkline, the first in the Stalingrad Oblast.
August 1, 1965 – the official date of the company’s establishment (pursuant to the Order #385 of the USSR State Production Committee of the Gas Industry dated July 17, 1965, the Volgograd Line Pipe Operation Center was set up).
Since 1974 – the Volgogradtransgaz Production Association, since 1991 – subsidiary company Volgogradtransgaz, since 1999 – limited liability company (OOO) Volgogradtransgaz.
On January 28, 2008 at the second stage of the reorganization and upgrade of the Gazprom intra-corporate management structure the company was renamed as Gazprom transgaz Volgograd.

Core Business Activities
The company employs more than five thousand of personnel.
Gazprom transgaz Volgograd delivers natural gas to the Central and Southern Federal Districts of the Russian Federation, countries inside and outside FSU via the gas trunkline system in the Volgograd, Voronezh and Rostov Oblasts, as well as the Republic of Kalmykia.
The volume of delivered gas in 2007 totaled 106.2 bcm.
At present the company is in charge of the following facilities:
- 7,470.4 km of one-line gas trunklines including 3,485 km of gas laterals;
- 232 gas distribution stations located in four Russian Federation constituents;
- 28 compressor workshops (186 gas pumping units with 1,726.9 thousand kW of installed capacity).
Over the last years, the company has been ranked among the best transportation and connection companies of the Volgograd Oblast. In 2007 the company’s Director General Gasan Nabiev was acknowledged the best manager of the Volgograd Oblast in the Transportation and Connection nomination based on 2006 working results.
Environmental protection
The environmental management system of Gazprom transgaz Volgograd is formed
in compliance with the current requirements fixed by the ISO 14000 standards.
Voluntary commitments of the company in the environmental protection and saving area are reflected in its Environmental Policy approved in 2003.
The Environmental Policy’s top priorities:
- saving natural environment and securing environmental safety within the operational areas of the company’s facilities;
- compliance with the established standards for emissions (disposals) of pollutants;
- provision of environmental safety when constructing new facilities.
In the aim of mitigating negative impact on the environment the company annually upgrades its major technological equipment.
In 2007 the company’s capital expenditures for environmental protection totaled RUB 313 mln.
Social policy
Within the purpose-oriented “Gazprom to Children” program the company constructed in 2007 five children’s playgrounds for team sports in the region of its social responsibility. The grounds with modern surfaces and equipment sprang up in the town of Palasovka, settlement of Olkhovka, khutor of Bubnovsky, stanitsa Ust-Buzulukskaya (Volgograd Oblast) and settlement of Piskarevka (Voronezh Oblast).
In the khutor of Kalininsky (Sholokhov district of the Rostov Oblast) the company is finalizing the construction of a modern sports and cultural center.
Moreover, in 2007 the company allocated
some RUB 4 mln as charitable aid to child sports sections, amateur
creative teams, studios and groups of amateur creative work. 62
childcare organizations became social partners of the company,
including 22 schools, 22 kindergartens, 7 sports schools and centers,
10 cultural facilities and 1 healthcare facility.

Prospects
An on-surface leaching station is planned for commissioning in 2008 at the Volgograd underground gas storage (UGS) facility. The station is being created in the mineral salt deposits located 30 km away from Volgograd (volume – 800 mcm of active gas, daily sendout capacity – 70 mcm).
At the next stage of the project the company plans to effectuate leaching of the underground reservoirs for gas storage and construction of a UGS compressor station.
