Company history

Gazprom dobycha Yamburg has been working in YaNAO since 1984.

The company history started with the Yamburg oil, gas and condensate field development, with some 3.5 trillion cubic meters of natural gas produced. At present, intensive development of peripheral areas is underway: in December 2005 the Aneryakhinskaya area was brought to nominal capacity – 10 billion cubic meters per annum. A year later, comprehensive gas treatment unit No.9 of the Kharvutinskaya area was put into operation. In late October 2007, gas pre-treatment unit No.10 was commissioned.

The Zapolyarnoye oil, gas and condensate field, put into operation in 2001, annually fed the Unified Gas Supply System (UGSS) of Russia with 100 billion cubic meters of natural gas starting from 2004 – almost one-fifth of the total gas volume produced by Gazprom.

In July 2007 a new phase of the Zapolyarnoye field development commenced – the first wells of the first start-up complex in the Neocomian deposit were drilled.

In July 2009 the company produced the 4th trillion cubic meters of natural gas.

Major activities

The major business activity of Gazprom dobycha Yamburg is gas and gas condensate production. The company annually produces 220–230 billion cubic meters of gas and more than 1.5 million tons of gas condensate or over 40 per cent of Gazprom’s and 34 per cent of Russia’s total.

The company operates 12 comprehensive gas treatment units, 5 pre-treatment units, 15 booster compressor station workshops, more than two thousand gas and gas condensate wells and over two thousand flowlines.

Gazprom dobycha Yamburg annually invests some RUB 3.5 billion in prospecting activities. Over the past five years alone, the company has managed to replenish the resource base with more than 450 million tons of fuel equivalent including 447 billion cubic meters of natural gas. The company’s geologists discovered the Yuzhno-Parusovoye and Severo-Parusovoye fields and 17 gas, oil, and gas condensate deposits.

Environmental protection

Gazprom dobycha Yamburg aims at balancing the economic, environmental and social targets in all aspects of its business. The company both complies with the Russian environmental laws and does its best to achieve international environmental standards.

In 2009 the Environmental Policy of Gazprom dobycha Yamburg was approved and put into effect. The Policy is targeted at maximally efficient utilization of natural resources and preservation of a favorable environment in the Extreme North.

Adoption and maintenance of the environmental management system on the basis of the ISO 14001 international standard is a way to achieve the environmental targets.

Every year the company spends about RUB 4 billion on environmental protection and environmental payments.

Social responsibility

The company’s scale of operations is commensurate with the amount of its social obligations to employees and the region.

The company has been cooperating with the Tazovsky region since 1992. Over this period more than RUB 8 billion was earmarked to boost its economic advancement. Residential buildings, a hospital, a fire station, a trading station, a gas pipeline and the Novozapolyarny – Tazovsky road have been built there.

Considerable funds are spent on the charity program. The ongoing projects promote education, children’s sports and creative activities, as well as healthcare in municipalities.

Sports and creative abilities development among the personnel employed on a rotational basis gains special significance. The victories in snowcross racing and Kioku Shinkai Karate competitions are only a small part of grassroots sports development in Gazprom dobycha Yamburg.

Prospects

The new development target of Gazprom dobycha Yamburg are the Valanzhin deposits of the Zapolyarnoye field. Production drilling is being carried out and hydrocarbon production facilities are being built there.

Later on, it is projected to develop fields of the Ob and Taz Bays, the Gyda Peninsula. Execution of this strategic program will enable the company to look forward with confidence and to maintain a sustainable level of gas production.
