Sergey Ivanov
Sergey Ivanov – Director General of Gazprom dobycha Orenburg.
S. Ivanov was born on March 29, 1950 in the Meleuz district of the Bashkir ASSR.
In 1976 S. Ivanov graduated with honors from the Ufa Petroleum Institute, in 2004 – finished a graduate school at Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas holding a PhD degree in Technical Sciences. Sergey Ivanov is Professor, Corresponding Member of the Ukrainian Oil and Gas Academy, Full Member of the Academy of Mining Sciences.
Between 1975 and 1982 he worked for Sakhalinmorneftegazprom Production Association.
From 1982 to 1983 Sergey Ivanov leaded the Technical & Economic Engineering Group, being a Chief Project Engineer of the SakhalinNIPIneftegaz Institute.
In 1983 Sergey Ivanov was commissioned to develop oil and gas fields on the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov shelves.
Between 1989 and 1995 Sergey Ivanov worked as the Head of the Production and Technical Division of Vietsovpetro, the Russian-Vietnamese joint venture of Zarubezhneft Association in Vietnam.
From 1995 Sergey Ivanov continued his working activity in Chernomorneftegaz State Joint Stock Company (Ukraine) as the First Deputy Chairman and later as the Acting Chairman of the Management Committee.
Between 2002 and 2003 he held the post of the Fuel and Energy Minister of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Ukraine.
Since 2003 Sergey Ivanov has been in charge of Orenburggazprom, which was renamed Gazprom dobycha Orenburg in January 2008.
Company History
In 1966 the Orenburg oil, gas and condensate field (OOGCF), unique in terms of volumes and composition of gas reserves, was discovered 30 km off the city of Orenburg on the border between Europe and Asia. In 1968 Orenburggazprom was established as the Directorate for Gas Field Development & Operation And Pipelines Construction.
Industrial gas production was launched in 1974. The gas processing and helium plants were constructed with the aim of processing the extracted resources, which contained hydrogen sulfide, sour sulfur and helium in addition to hydrocarbon components.
In early '80s the Orenburggazprom association team set to developing the Karachaganak gas condensate field in Kazakhstan. The experience gained by the Orenburg professionals also contributed to developing the Astrakhan gas field.
Core business activities
Gazprom dobycha Orenburg is a largest gas chemical complex in the Russian Federation and a strong profitable company dealing with a wide range of tasks.
Gazprom dobycha Orenburg acts in the following areas:
- prospecting and exploration of new oil and gas deposits;
- existing fields stimulation;
- production of gas, condensate and oil;
- processing of hydrocarbon feedstock in two plants producing twelve kinds of products;
- delivery of feedstock processing services to third-party suppliers;
- transportation of gas, condensate, oil, and their derivatives.
Major commercial products include gas free of hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans, stable condensate, ethane fraction, liquefied hydrocarbon gases, gaseous helium, sulfur, odorant, and pentane-hexane fraction. The products are supplied to Russian regions and abroad. Gazprom dobycha Orenburg produces 100 per cent of Russian helium and odorant, while its share of total national ethane production makes up 78 per cent.
Environmental protection
Gazprom dobycha Orenburg follows an environmental policy and maintains an environmental management system based on a continuous analysis of environmental problems and relevant corrective actions.
The company upgrades existing production facilities and adopted new nature conservation technologies for associated gas complete capturing, wells development and in-pipe inspection. Retrofitting of waste treatment facilities is underway at the gas processing and helium plants. It will enable to create a zero – discharge system and to considerably reduce water consumption.
Gazprom dobycha Orenburg has completed the construction of an automatic air quality monitoring system at the OOGCF territory. The system comprises 21 stationary automatic control stations to conduct round-the-clock measuring.
Gazprom dobycha Orenburg is a leading Orenburg Oblast company in terms of switching automotive vehicles to natural gas. At present, over 500 cars run on propane-butane fraction being less toxic compared to gasoline.

Social policy
The scope of Gazprom dobycha Orenburg activities is strategically important for the regional economy development.
The company exemplarily covers its tax liabilities. After considering the results of 2007 Gazprom dobycha Orenburg was acknowledged as the Best Taxpayer of the Oblast.
During 40 years of its existence the Company has contributed to the socio-economic development of the Orenburg Oblast and its capital by constructing 1.7 million squire meters of housing, 18 schools, 36 kindergartens and a plenty of other social facilities. Gazprom dobycha Orenburg supports the best regional Gazovik Cultural and Sports Palace and Yubileiny Sports Complex, as well as an Ice Arena and other cultural and sports centres available to all Orenburg citizens.
A collective agreement adopted in the Company applies to employees, their families and retired pensioners. Basically, the agreement relates to over 40 thousand persons. Therefore, every fifteenth citizen of Orenburg enjoys the benefits.
The charity activity of Gazprom dobycha Orenburg embraces all spheres of the regional life. The company’s social policy priorities include implementing the Gazprom to Children program, which envisages the construction and reconstruction of sports facilities. A largest regional sports complex Orenburzh’e started functioning in the Oblast centre. RUR 210 mln were allocated by gas workers to construct this facility. Sports complexes with swimming pools have been constructed in the settlements of Gazodobytchikov and Pavlovka of the Orenburg district, dozens of playgrounds have been launched. Gazprom dobycha Orenburg jointly with the companies – members of Gazprom in Orenburzh’e Noncommercial Partnership of Gas Companies annually holds the festival ‘Warmth of Children’s Hearts’ for the foster children of orphanages. Over 400 children take part in such festivals. The Company conducts a full range of sports and cultural events, provides recreation and invigoration of children.
Gazprom dobycha Orenburg was awarded the Grand Prix of the All-Russian Contest ‘Russian Organisation of High Social Efficiency’. The awarding ceremony took place on February 12, 2008 in the State Kremlin Palace, Moscow.
