Director General

Andrey G. Rossinsky was born on December 26, 1961 in Leningrad. He graduated from the Komarovsky Leningrad Higher Military Engineering & Construction School and the Petroleum Business Institute under the Education and Science Ministry of Russia. Specialty – petroleum business manager.

Previously to his engagement in Gazprom, Andrey Rossinsky headed the Petersburg Building Company.

Between June 2004 and April 2006 he served as Director General of Podzemburgaz, a subsidiary of Burgaz.

Company History

Limited Liability Company “Drilling Company of Open Joint Stock Company Gazprom” (Burgaz) was established in April 1997.

Nowadays Drilling Company of Gazprom is among Russia's largest drilling enterprises engaged in the construction of all types of wells in Russia and comprised of 7 production branches: Tyumenburgaz, Kubanburgaz, Astrakhanburgaz, Severburgaz, Orenburgburgaz, Horizontal Drilling Center, Well Cementing Center as well as two deep drilling companies (part of Kubanburgaz branch) in the Irkutsk Oblast and Krasnoyarsk Krai and the Yamal Drilling Directorate (part of Severburgaz branch).

In December 2004 Burgaz was awarded the Glory of Russia Order for the outstanding services in reviving and developing the fine traditions of the national entrepreneurship.

Major Activities

Burgaz specializes in the following activities:

• geological exploration;
• all type-well construction including wells with a 6,500 – 7,000 m target depth;
• horizontal well drilling;
• well overhaul, inactive well recovery (sidetracking);
• survey and topographic & geodetic activities;
• all kinds of services related to well construction, capital repair and stimulation including through hydraulic fracturing.

Exploration drilling involves drilling of deep wells at high temperature and is accompanied by core sampling. The company applies rotor, rotor-turbine and turbine drilling. Burgaz possesses know-how in drilling technologies and techniques.

Burgaz partners not only with Gazprom's production companies but with other domestic and foreign companies as well. Since 1998 Drilling Company has been member of the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADS)

Environmental Protection

Drilling Company adheres to and applies in everyday practice the following basic principle – from pollution elimination to cleaner production.

In the aim of organizing environmental activities Burgaz has formed the branch Regulations for arranging environmental activities during well construction that reflect all nature protection requirements at industrial drilling facilities and define the personal responsibility of employees relevant to the environmental law fundamentals.

In October – November 2007 Burgaz Administration and Kubanburgaz branch company (sampled facility) underwent the assessment audit of the Burgaz environmental management system for the conformity with the Russian environmental law and ISO 14001 international standard. The audit company gave a high expert estimate of the company's environmental status.

Social Policy

Being a socially responsible company, Burgaz is focused on approaching each staff member individually, cultivating corporate spirit in its team and optimally utilizing human resources for the benefit of the company.

Burgaz supports its employees in obtaining supplementary educational qualifications, postgraduate and doctoral degrees, pays special attention to social security, medical provision, labor protection and welfare stability.

The company takes steps aimed at improving the living conditions of its employees and re-settling their families from the Extreme North to the regions with prolific climatic conditions.

Special consideration is given to physical fitness and sports, healthy lifestyle promotion. Employees of the branch companies take active part in the national and regional sports and cultural life.

Burgaz is actively engaged in the Gazprom to Children program. Over 300 children are trained in sports centers and clubs of the sports complexes located in five cities and owned by branch companies.

Prospects

Yamal Peninsula

Nowadays the launch of the Yamal Peninsula development is among the most promising projects. The first start-up complexes intended for developing the Cenomanian-Aptian deposits of the Bovanenkovo field are scheduled to be put onstream in 2011. Burgaz has been defined as the general well construction contractor at the Bovanenkovo field.

Eastern Siberia

At present, Burgaz is successfully implementing a program for Gazprom to access Eastern Siberia fields. The deep drilling company (branch of Burgaz) based in the Irkutsk Oblast is constructing wells at the South Kovykta licensed area. In addition, the company has won the tender for the construction of exploratory wells at the Beryambinskoye field in the Krasnodar Krai. Exploration activities are in progress at the Platonovskaya area. In future it is projected to access new unexplored regions of Eastern Siberia including the Kamchatka Peninsula.
