Concert held in St. Petersburg as part of Russian Seasons in Germany. German Classics in Russia project
A chamber concert featuring the Rachmaninov Trio and Alexander Lemeshev, a famous St. Petersburg glass harmonica (crystallophone) player, took place at the White Hall of the Sheremetev Palace in St. Petersburg on December 1, 2016, as part of the joint cultural and educational project of Gazprom and Germany’s VNG-Verbundnetz Gas. The musicians played compositions by Beethoven, Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, and Mendelssohn.
The 11th International Music Festival ‘Stars on Baikal’ has concluded in Irkutsk.
In the course of 12 days, 20 concerts of classical music were held at the region’s major music venues: the Zagursky Irkutsk Music Theater, the concert and organ halls of the Irkutsk Region Philharmonic, and the Bratsk-ART Theater and Concert Center (Bratsk).
The festival is aimed at showcasing wildlife sanctuaries closed to mass tourism, with their austere, pristine beauty, and the environmental balance between nature and gas transmission facilities. In the lead-up to the Year of Environmental Awareness at Gazprom, the 'Cranberry. Shores' festival stands out as a remarkable modern project that provides an example of environmental friendliness.
Participants performed at several venues in Ukhta, while the festival guests had a chance to sample national cuisines and visit a Finno-Ugric arts-and-crafts fair.
