Gazprom annually supports various social projects contributing to culture, science and education development and promulgation of a healthy lifestyle.

Eliane Coelho at concert in Tretyakov Gallery

On May 22, 2010 a concert involving the Brazilian singer Eliane Coelho, one of the world’s best female sopranos, and Evgeny Knyazev, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation, took place in Vrubel Hall of Tretyakov State Gallery within the Masterpieces amid Masterpieces project. The music accompaniment was represented by the renowned Rachmaninov Trio – Victor Yampolsky (piano), Mikhail Tsinman (violin) and Natalya Savinova (cello). The concert was held under the auspices of Gazprom.

 
Helios sports center opened in Orenburg District

On November 26, 2010 the Helios sports center was opened in the Orenburg District. The center can accommodate more than 400 guests. It is comprised of two buildings located on 2,300 square meters and linked by a heated passage. A swimming pool with four lanes is located in one building, while sports and gymnastics rooms and a ping-pong room are in the other.

 
Enhancing relations between Russia and Ukraine

On June 16, 1910 the Emperor Nicholas II Prize International Rally started. The route of the rally was as follows: Saint Petersburg – Kiev – Moscow – Saint Petersburg. One century later, in September 2010, Gazprom reconstructed the historical race. The motor rally ran under the 3rd category rally rules according to the classification of the Russian Automobile Federation. Under the above mentioned rules the primary goal of the rally is to accurately follow the route rather than speed up. A rigorous requirement for the participants was to comply with Russia and Ukraine’s traffic rules.

 
Siberia’s largest track and field facility opened

It is a pleasure to give presents especially so big and significant on the New Year's Eve. In December 2010 Tomsk hosted the opening of a track and field facility built at Gazprom’s expense as part of the Gazprom to Children program.

 
Constellation of Russia

On June 12, 2011 the International Festival of Russia's national culture “Constellation of Russia” was held in Rome (Italy) within the Year of Russian Culture and Russian Language in Italy and the Year of Italian Culture and Italian Language in Russia.

 
Gazprom opens six sports and recreation complexes in St. Petersburg

Krasnoselsky, Frunzensky, Petrodvortsovy, Kalininsky, and Primorsky Districts of St. Petersburg and Kronshtadt hosted the opening of sports and recreation complexes (SRC) built as part of the Gazprom to Children program.

Gazprom and Pushkin Museum inviting to Kandinsky exhibition

The Pushkin Museum and Gazprom present the exhibition of canvases by Wassily Kandinsky, Russian artist, one of the founders of abstract art, and painters from The Blue Rider group established with his assistance. Every painting being exhibited belongs to the collection of the Lenbachhaus Gallery in Munich. The Kandinsky and Der Blaue Reiter exhibition will be on display at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts until January 15, 2012.

Monuments as gifts for Russian cities

In September 2010 the Yaroslavl’s Millennium monument was unveiled in Yaroslavl. The monument construction was sponsored by Gazprom. It represents a 22 meter stele surrounded by five bronze figures (Grand Prince Yaroslav the Wise, Patriarch Tikhon, collective characters of a Citizen, a Mother with her Child and a Warrior) and crowned with a bronze double-headed eagle – the State Emblem of Russia. Thematic panels dedicated to the history of Yaroslavl are disposed in the central part of the monument.

 
Gazprom Neft Cup – official children’s tournament of Kontinental Hockey League

Gazprom neft and the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) are cooperating to promote children's hockey and train a pool of young sportsmen. In this context, the annual children's hockey tournament Gazprom Neft Cup was assigned the status of an official KHL tournament.

 
Gazprom roots for Zenit

The Zenit football club being sponsored by Gazprom for several years is among Russia’s best teams nowadays. Zenit is the only team that won all major football trophies of the USSR and Russia: the USSR Championship (1984), the USSR Cup (1944), the USSR Super Cup (1985), the Championship of Russia (2007, 2010), the Cup of Russia (1998/99, 2009/10), the Premier League Cup (2003) and the Super Cup of Russia (2008, 2011). 

 
In honor of veterans

Gazprom annually holds celebrations dedicated to the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. In April 2010 the 65th Victory anniversary was marked by the Moscow – Saint Petersburg bike ride and in May veterans were honored at the Gazprom headquarters. On the threshold of the 65th Victory anniversary, Gazprom created a section dedicated to veterans on its corporate website.

On August 16 the Start stadium in Saransk hosted the Opening Ceremony for the Gazprom's 9th Summer Spartakiada Games.

 
Holy Russia in Louvre

On March 2, 2010 in the presence of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and French President Nicolas Sarkozy a Russian art exhibition Holy Russia, was opened in the Louvre . The exhibition was dedicated to the Year of Russia in France. The general sponsors of the event were Gazprom, GDF SUEZ and Total. 

Chess kings fight for Super Cup

In November 15–25, 2011 Moscow hosted the 6th Tal Memorial, a traditional Grand Master tournament. The Russian Chess Federation, sponsored by Gazprom.

Journey to fairytale

Gazprom traditionally holds New Year charity events for socially disadvantaged children. Another New Year festive event took place at the Meridian culture and arts center on January 15, 2011 in Moscow. The event was attended by more than 1,000 children from social welfare institutions of Moscow and the suburbs. 

 
Gazprom promotes hockey

Revival of interest in sports is largely associated with the success of our sportsmen in major international competitions especially in such popular kinds of sports as football and hockey. This is why Gazprom nowadays sponsors the leading Russian hockey clubs: SKA Saint Petersburg and Avangard Omsk. 

New sports complex inauguration in Pikalevo

On July 15, 2011 the Pikalevo town of the Boksitogorsky District (Leningrad Oblast) hosted inauguration of the Leader sports and health complex constructed by Gazprom transgaz Saint Petersburg as part of the Gazprom to Children program.

 
Arts Festival held in China

In October 2010 Beijing hosted the Arts Festival of Gazprom and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC). This event was recognized as one of the most large-scale projects for cultural exchange between Russia and China.

 
Sport for female champions

As football to the English and hockey to the Canadians, so is rhythmic gymnastics to the Russians – an object of national pride. Russian female rhythmic gymnasts have been traditionally considered one of the most prominent athletes in World Championships and Olympic Games. Beginning from 2002 Gazprom has been the primary sponsor of the All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics.

Serbian football club put on T-shirts with Gazprom’s logo

With a view to promote its brand in the foreign market, Gazprom became in 2010 the general sponsor of Crvena Zvezda (Red Star), a Serbian football club with a rich history. The sponsorship support also stipulates building up reserves to finance the club's youth team.

Unique concerts in Moscow Conservatory

In November 2009 the Small Hall of Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory hosted unique concerts of classical music held under the auspices of Gazprom and its foreign partners.

 
International Youth Boxing Tournament held in Nadym

Between November 28 and December 1, 2010 Nadym hosted the 10th traditional International Youth Boxing Tournament dedicated to the memory of Vladislav Strizhov, the first Director General of Gazprom dobycha Nadym.

 
First Russian Chess Academy opened in Khanty-Mansiysk

Chess Academy constructed within the Gazprom to Children program was opened in Khanty-Mansiysk in September 2010. The Academy building comprises two training halls, a specialized multi-purpose room containing 128 game tables and an adjustable spectator space as well as a computer room equipped with the specialized software enabling the Chess Academy students to compete with counterparts from any part of the world.

The International Children’s Forum “The World Belongs to Us!” was held on May 26–28, 2011 in Segovia (Spain) and on June 4–7, 2011 in Terracina (Italy).

 
Gazprom and Germany are linked together by football and FC Schalke 04

Germanyis a large consumer of Russian gas and a long-standing partner of Gazprom. Beginning from 2007 Gazprom has been a sponsor of the most popular Bundesliga club – FC Schalke 04. Boasting deep-routed football traditions, Schalke 04 is among the top three most successful German clubs for the last five years. In the season 2010/2011 the team reached the Champions League semi-finals and won the German Football Association (DFB) cup.

 
Flare ignited in Tomsk

Since 2004 Gazprom has regularly arranged the corporate Fakel Festival (“fakel” is translated from Russian as “flare”) among amateur and creative teams and artists of Gazprom subsidiaries. The Festival zonal rounds took place in Orenburg, Yugorsk, Surgut, Kazan, Yekaterinburg and Nizhny Novgorod. The final rounds are usually held in Gelendzhik. In February 2011 the IV zonal round of the Fakel Festival took place in Tomsk for the first time.

 
Gazprom sponsoring International Biathlon Competition

Russia cherishes deep-rooted traditions in biathlon and Gazprom actively assists this sport development: since 2007 the Company has been arranging and sponsoring the International Biathlon Competition for the Prize in memory of the Russian Honored Coach Vitaly Fatyanov.
