Gazprom annually supports various social projects contributing to culture, science and education development and promulgation of a healthy lifestyle.
On May 22, 2010 a concert involving the Brazilian singer Eliane Coelho, one of the world’s best female sopranos, and Evgeny Knyazev, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation, took place in Vrubel Hall of Tretyakov State Gallery within the Masterpieces amid Masterpieces project. The music accompaniment was represented by the renowned Rachmaninov Trio – Victor Yampolsky (piano), Mikhail Tsinman (violin) and Natalya Savinova (cello). The concert was held under the auspices of Gazprom.
In November 2009 the Small Hall of Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory hosted unique concerts of classical music held under the auspices of Gazprom and its foreign partners.
Between November 28 and December 1, 2010 Nadym hosted the 10th traditional International Youth Boxing Tournament dedicated to the memory of Vladislav Strizhov, the first Director General of Gazprom dobycha Nadym.
The Zenit football club being sponsored by Gazprom for several years is among Russia’s best teams nowadays. Zenit is the only team that won all major football trophies of the USSR and Russia: the USSR Championship (1984), the USSR Cup (1944), the USSR Super Cup (1985), the Championship of Russia (2007, 2010), the Cup of Russia (1998/99, 2009/10), the Premier League Cup (2003) and the Super Cup of Russia (2008, 2011).
On June 12, 2011 the International Festival of Russia's national culture “Constellation of Russia” was held in Rome (Italy) within the Year of Russian Culture and Russian Language in Italy and the Year of Italian Culture and Italian Language in Russia.
In Anapa hosted a festive opening of the 4th Summer Children's Spartakiada Games of Gazprom.
The Pushkin Museum and Gazprom present the exhibition of canvases by Wassily Kandinsky, Russian artist, one of the founders of abstract art, and painters from The Blue Rider group established with his assistance. Every painting being exhibited belongs to the collection of the Lenbachhaus Gallery in Munich. The Kandinsky and Der Blaue Reiter exhibition will be on display at the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts until January 15, 2012.
In November 15–25, 2011 Moscow hosted the 6th Tal Memorial, a traditional Grand Master tournament. The Russian Chess Federation, sponsored by Gazprom.
The capital of the Czech Republic hosted the European Karate Cup in the beginning of April 2012. Ivan Kiryanov, member of the Russian national team from Gazprom Transgaz Stavropol Shotokan Club became the winner in the team tournaments. The sportsman had a clear lead and won every fight bringing the national team on top – as a result, the Russian team took the first place.
On April 7, 2012 the Pangody settlement hosted the Gazprom Dobycha Nadym Cup Car Racing Competitions. The competitions were held in T1 class comprising 4x4 four-wheeled off-road vehicles produced in Russia and having the engine size of up to 3,000 cubic centimeters as well as in A-1600 class made up of front-drive cars with the engine size of up to 1,600 cubic centimeters.
Gazprom Torch table tennis club (Orenburg) has become the champion of Russia for the fifth time.
Year 2012 is announced as the Year of Russian Tourism in the People’s Republic of China. Many people of different professions – and not only those engaged into the tourism business, but the representatives of cultural, educational and art institutions – take part in the festive program.
The last stage of the offshore Baltic Nord Stream Race has finished on October 26, 2012. Taking part in the race were five teams – from Russia, the European Union, France, Germany and the Netherlands. According to the results of the Race, the Russian team led by Vladimir Lyubomirov, Commodore of the Saint Petersburg Yacht Club on the Bronenosets yacht won the first prize. The team is sponsored by Gazprom Group.
On March 27 Slavyansk-on-Kuban hosted an open futsal tournament among trainees of football schools. 8 teams comprised of young sportsmen from 12 to 14 years old entered the competition for the grand prize. The footballers played 11 matches in the course of which the Slavyanski Football Club team took the first place. In the end of the sports celebration gas workers congratulated the children on the start of spring vacations and awarded them cups and medals.
Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk hosted the inauguration of the Kristall Ice Palace built under the auspices of Gazprom.
Gazprom as the official sponsor of the UEFA Champions League launched the Football for Friendship international social project in the framework of the Gazprom for Children global program. The project is aimed at using love of sport to instill modern values in the younger generation, namely, respect for other cultures and nationalities, equality, as well as interest in a healthy lifestyle.
Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, Georgy Poltavchenko, Governor of St. Petersburg, Shamil Tarpischev, President of the Russian Tennis Federation as well as famous tennis players: Elena Dementieva, Yevgeny Kafelnikov, Marat Safin and Martina Hingis took part today in St. Petersburg in the groundbreaking ceremony of the Lakhta Tennis Club.

It is the fourth year that the Kama region gas workers hold the charitable event which coincides with the start of the school year.
The 8th annual Warmth of Children’s Hearts festival took place on September 2–6 in Orenburg for children from orphanages and boarding schools. The festival is a part of the Gazprom for Children program.
A solemn award ceremony took place for the winners of the Dream Come True show competition annually held by Gazprom Dobycha Astrakhan among children’s creative and sports associations.
As part of the All-Russian Running Day, the Nation’s Cross-Country Race wide-scale competition took place on September 22 in the Dedurovka settlement of the Orenburg District and the Perevolotsky settlement of the Perevolotsk District, Orenburg Region.
On October 19, founding day of the Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum over 120 young reciters from the Irkutsk city, the Cheremkhovo town as well as the Meget, Zalari and Kutulik settlements gathered in the Pushkin Central Children’s Library of Irkutsk. The participants presented poetry and prose by Alexander Pushkin to be approved by the jury. Despite a competitive format, the atmosphere of the event was friendly and creative.
The Novo-Lenino district of Irkutsk hosted today an opening ceremony of a versatile children’s sports ground built under the Gazprom for Children program.
Yakutsk hosted an opening ceremony of the Sterkh versatile sports complex constructed under the auspices of Gazprom Dobycha Noyabrsk within the Gazprom for Children target program.
The 28th European Shotokan Karate-Do Championship and the 28th Old World Shotokan Karate-Do Championship finished in Povoa de Varzim in Portugal, where the fighters of the Gazprom Transgaz Stavropol Shotokan Club, members of the Russian national team, won five gold medals.
The Gazprom Neft Cup, the Eighth Youth Ice Hockey Tournament of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), will be held from April 20 through 25, 2014. The tournament will be held simultaneously in two different cities in two different countries. The twelve teams of the West group will compete in Minsk, while the twelve teams of the East group will play in Omsk. The super-final will also be held in Omsk.
Over 500 children took part in the annual charitable Christmas celebration organized by the Gazprom Transgaz Stavropol gas workers.
Moscow Soloist Chamber Orchestra under Yuri Bashmet kicked off the UK-Russia Year of Culture by their concert. The musicians performed works by Benjamin Britten, Dmitry Shostakovich, Franz Schubert and Peter Tchaikovsky at the Barbican Hall in London on 1 February.
In September 2010 the Yaroslavl’s Millennium monument was unveiled in Yaroslavl. The monument construction was sponsored by Gazprom. It represents a 22 meter stele surrounded by five bronze figures (Grand Prince Yaroslav the Wise, Patriarch Tikhon, collective characters of a Citizen, a Mother with her Child and a Warrior) and crowned with a bronze double-headed eagle – the State Emblem of Russia. Thematic panels dedicated to the history of Yaroslavl are disposed in the central part of the monument.
On November 26, 2010 the Helios sports center was opened in the Orenburg District. The center can accommodate more than 400 guests. It is comprised of two buildings located on 2,300 square meters and linked by a heated passage. A swimming pool with four lanes is located in one building, while sports and gymnastics rooms and a ping-pong room are in the other.
On June 16, 1910 the Emperor Nicholas II Prize International Rally started. The route of the rally was as follows: Saint Petersburg – Kiev – Moscow – Saint Petersburg. One century later, in September 2010, Gazprom reconstructed the historical race. The motor rally ran under the 3rd category rally rules according to the classification of the Russian Automobile Federation. Under the above mentioned rules the primary goal of the rally is to accurately follow the route rather than speed up. A rigorous requirement for the participants was to comply with Russia and Ukraine’s traffic rules.
Gazprom annually holds celebrations dedicated to the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. In April 2010 the 65th Victory anniversary was marked by the Moscow – Saint Petersburg bike ride and in May veterans were honored at the Gazprom headquarters. On the threshold of the 65th Victory anniversary, Gazprom created a section dedicated to veterans on its corporate website.
On August 16 the Start stadium in Saransk hosted the Opening Ceremony for the Gazprom's 9th Summer Spartakiada Games.
As football to the English and hockey to the Canadians, so is rhythmic gymnastics to the Russians – an object of national pride. Russian female rhythmic gymnasts have been traditionally considered one of the most prominent athletes in World Championships and Olympic Games. Beginning from 2002 Gazprom has been the primary sponsor of the All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics.
On March 2, 2010 in the presence of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and French President Nicolas Sarkozy a Russian art exhibition Holy Russia, was opened in the Louvre. The exhibition was dedicated to the Year of Russia in France. The general sponsors of the event were Gazprom, GDF SUEZ and Total.
Russia cherishes deep-rooted traditions in biathlon and Gazprom actively assists this sport development: since 2007 the Company has been arranging and sponsoring the International Biathlon Competition for the Prize in memory of the Russian Honored Coach Vitaly Fatyanov.
Novy Urengoy hosted the 3rd final round of the Russian Snowcross Championship and the National Snowcross Competition between April 7 and 8, 2012.
On April 6, 2012 Nadym hosted the “What? Where? When?” intellectual game involving Alexey Blinov, captain of a well-known team of experts. The competition was arranged by Gazprom Dobycha Nadym.
On May 2012, prior to Victory Day two children’s and youth tournaments took place in Orenburg. The sports events were dedicated to veterans of the national gas industry, former heads of Orenburggazprom: a football competition was held in memory of Vasily Nikolaev and a judo competition – Yury Vysheslavtsev, Hero of Socialist Labor. Gazprom Dobycha Orenburg organized the tournaments.
On December 24, 2012 Lomonosov hosted a festive opening of the health and fitness center built as part of the Gazprom for Children program.
Vitebsk (Republic of Belarus) hosted a grand opening of the final round of the 5th corporate Fakel Festival among amateur creative teams and performers from Gazprom's subsidiary companies and organizations.
Gazprom together with GDF SUEZ acted as the exclusive sponsors of The Rite of Spring ballet staged by the Mariinsky Theatre troupe under the direction of Valery Gergiev in the Theatre des Champs Elysees in Paris from May 29 to 31, 2013. The cultural event coincided with the 30th anniversary of the third – largest-ever – Contract for Russian natural gas supply to France.
The Gazprom Swan European Regatta featuring 40 crews on Swan yachts from seven largest European countries ended at Cowes (UK).
Russia’s Ministry of Sports, Tourism and Youth Policy awarded the Russian Master of Sports of International Class in Oriental Martial Arts titles to karate fighters of the Gazprom Transgaz Stavropol Shotokan sports club.
Gazprom Dobycha Noyabrsk presented a sculptural group made of bronze to the citizens of Noyabrsk. The group is comprised of three figures: a representative of the indigenous minorities of the North reflecting the moral and ethical spirit of Yamal a geologist embodying the knowledge that once made it possible to see this territory in a new light and a gas worker as a symbol of social peace and wellbeing.
On the threshold of the Knowledge Day the employees of Gazprom Transgaz Saratov took part in the Get a Child Ready for School charity campaign as part of the company’s Green Planet for Children social project. All the company’s branches donated money to purchase school kits, office supplies, backpacks and sports equipment, which total worth exceeded RUB 100 thousand. On the Knowledge Day the long-awaited presents were given to children from over 50 socially unprotected and large families, as well as to 20 disabled children in the regions of the company’s operations, namely, the Saratov, Penza and Tambov Regions.
On October 4, 2013 the employees of Karachaganak Petroleum Operating (Kazakhstan) took part in the Aksai – Orenburg bike ride.
Dmitry Kulikov, a trainee of the Children and Youth Sports School of the Gazovik Cultural and Sports Palace is the first Orenburg citizen to have become the Judo Champion of Russia.
On November 15, 2013 the opening ceremony of a new sports stadium took place at the premises of the Volgograd Man’s Pedagogical Lyceum in the Traktorozavodsky district of Volgograd.
On December 5 the opening ceremony of a versatile sports ground constructed by Gazprom Transgaz Stavropol took place in Rozhdestvenskaya settlement of the Stavropol Territory. Ten sports grounds are being given to the young citizens of the Stavropol Territory within the Gazprom for Children target program.
On December 24, the day the Olympic Torch arrived in the Samara Region, the opening ceremony of the Olymp sports complex took place in Samara.
Within the 2013 Labor Glory Museums competition the Gazprom Transgaz Saratov Museum won in the Succession of Generations nomination and Ekaterina Gracheva, senior specialist of the PR and Media Relations Service of Gazprom Transgaz Saratov became the best museum worker. Winner’s diplomas were awarded by Vasily Artin, Director of the Municipal Youth Center and Deputy of the Saratov City Duma. The competition of labor glory museums is held in Saratov for the first time with a view to promote youth’s civic and patriotic education and exhibition activities. Labor glory museums of about 20 enterprises of the Saratov Region took part in the competition.
This year the competition brought together 148 sportsmen from Israel, the USA, Serbia, Spain, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Lithuania and Kyrgyzstan.
In January 2014 Gazprom Promgaz launched the Winter Miracle charity campaign.
Gazprom traditionally holds New Year charity events for socially disadvantaged children. Another New Year festive event took place at the Meridian culture and arts center on January 15, 2011 in Moscow. The event was attended by more than 1,000 children from social welfare institutions of Moscow and the suburbs.
Revival of interest in sports is largely associated with the success of our sportsmen in major international competitions especially in such popular kinds of sports as football and hockey. This is why Gazprom nowadays sponsors the leading Russian hockey clubs: SKA Saint Petersburg and Avangard Omsk.
With a view to promote its brand in the foreign market, Gazprom became in 2010 the general sponsor of Crvena Zvezda (Red Star), a Serbian football club with a rich history. The sponsorship support also stipulates building up reserves to finance the club's youth team.
A Chess Academy constructed within the Gazprom to Children program was opened in Khanty-Mansiysk in September 2010. The Academy building comprises two training halls, a specialized multi-purpose room containing 128 game tables and an adjustable spectator space as well as a computer room equipped with the specialized software enabling the Chess Academy students to compete with counterparts from any part of the world.
In October 2010 Beijing hosted the Arts Festival of Gazprom and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC). This event was recognized as one of the most large-scale projects for cultural exchange between Russia and China.
Krasnoselsky, Frunzensky, Petrodvortsovy, Kalininsky, and Primorsky Districts of St. Petersburg and Kronshtadt hosted the opening of sports and recreation complexes (SRC) built as part of the Gazprom to Children program.
Germanyis a large consumer of Russian gas and a long-standing partner of Gazprom. Beginning from 2007 Gazprom has been a sponsor of the most popular Bundesliga club – FC Schalke 04. Boasting deep-routed football traditions, Schalke 04 is among the top three most successful German clubs for the last five years. In the season 2010/2011 the team reached the Champions League semi-finals and won the German Football Association (DFB) cup.
Since 2004 Gazprom has regularly arranged the corporate Fakel Festival (“fakel” is translated from Russian as “flare”) among amateur and creative teams and artists of Gazprom subsidiaries. The Festival zonal rounds took place in Orenburg, Yugorsk, Surgut, Kazan, Yekaterinburg and Nizhny Novgorod. The final rounds are usually held in Gelendzhik. In February 2011 the IV zonal round of the Fakel Festival took place in Tomsk for the first time.
Gazprom traditionally holds New Year charity events for children in need of social support. Another New Year performance for socially disadvantaged children took place at the Meridian Culture and Arts Center on January 14, 2012 in Moscow.
In February 2012 Yekaterinburg hosted a festive opening of the 9th Adult Winter Spartakiada Games and the 4th Children’s Winter Spartakiada Games of Gazprom. The event brought together 24 adult and 13 children’s teams from Gazprom’s subsidiaries.
Between April 5 and 8 , 2012 the Ice Arena of Rostoshi settlement (Orenburg) hosted the All-Russian Ice Hockey Tournament for the prizes of Anatoly Zibarev – Hero of Socialist Labor, veteran of the gas industry. The tournament was arranged by Gazprom Dobycha Orenburg as part of the Gazprom for Children program.
Between June 26 and 27, 2012 the Berezka recreation complex hosted the sixth festival named the Workroom of Joy for children from large and socially disadvantaged families in the Samara and Ulyanovsk Regions.
Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Viktor Nazarov, Governor of the Omsk Region took on October 24, 2012 in the groundbreaking ceremony for the Avangard Hockey Academy sports complex in Omsk.
In the run-up to 22nd Winter Olympic Games a series of trial competitions took place at the Integrated Biathlon and Ski Complex of Gazprom, including the Biathlon World Cup round, Russian Cross-Country Skiing Championship as well as the Russian Championship and the final round of the Paralympic Cross-Country Skiing and Biathlon World Cup among athletes with orthopedic and visual impairment.
Taking part in the competitions were 27 teams from Omsk, Nizhnevartovsk, Surgut, Nefteyugansk, Novy Urengoy, Nadym and Pangody settlement.
On April 26 Fakel Gazproma club won in Orenburg its second consecutive European Champions League Cup in table tennis. In the final match the Russian team competed with French Chartres.
On June 9–14 Velikiye Luki hosted the 18th International Balloon Meet. For the third time Gazprom acted as the general sponsor of this annual event.
The first Football for Friendship International Children's Forum organized by Gazprom within the Company's eponymous social project was rounded off today at the Gazprom headquarters.
Kazan hosted a solemn opening ceremony of the 10th Adult Summer Spartakiada Games and the 5th Children’s Summer Spartakiada Games of Gazprom. Taking part in the event were over 2.5 thousand athletes representing 25 adult and 17 children’s teams from Gazprom’s 29 subsidiaries.
The Gazovik Cultural and Sports Center was inaugurated on September 10 in the Tatishchevo settlement of the Perevolotsk District, Orenburg Region. It was constructed by Gazprom Dobycha Orenburg under the Gazprom for Children program. This Center will be the main venue for sporting activities of the Tatishchevo settlement as well as the nearby settlements of Zubochistka, Zubochistka-2, Rodnichny Dol and Chesnokovka. In this way, about 500 schoolchildren will take part in District-wide sporting events.
At the beginning of September a social project called ‘Gazprom Classes’ started for the first time in two schools of Novy Urengoy. The project is a joint initiative of Gazprom Dobycha Urengoy, Gazprom Dobycha Yamburg and Novy Urengoy’s Department of Education.
Astrakhan hosted cultural events for the locals of the Astrakhan Region under the Reviving Traditions corporate movement.
The International Children’s Forum “The World Belongs to Us!” was held on May 26–28, 2011 in Segovia (Spain) and on June 4–7, 2011 in Terracina (Italy).
On November 6 the Tchaikovsky State Memorial House in Klin (Moscow Region) – located within Gazprom Transgaz Moscow operating area – hosted festive events that marked a start of Silvery Lily-of-the-Valley, a three-year project dedicated to the musical heritage of Pyotr Tchaikovsky.
The Movie and Concert Hall of the Nord Cultural and Sports Complex of Gazprom Transgaz Yugorsk hosted a gala concert of the 18th Severnoye Siyaniye (Northern Lights) Festival-Contest of amateur creative teams and performers.
The employees of the Sakhalin branch of Gazprom Transgaz Tomsk jointly with their colleagues from Gazprom’s subsidiaries and the representative office in the Sakhalin Region held the Happy Day charity campaign in the Kristall sports palace for the children from the orphanage of Pravda settlement and the social rehabilitation center of Uglezavodsk. The event was held involving the personal funds raised by the gasmen.
On December 7 Saratov hosted the finals of the Club of the Funny and Witty (KVN, Klub Veselykh i Nakhodchivykh).
Gazprom traditionally holds New Year charity campaigns for children in need of social support. On January 11, 2014 the Izmailovo concert hall in Moscow hosted yet another New Year holiday event for socially disadvantaged children. The children were shown the Lukomorye (Curved Seashore) musical based on fairy tales by Alexander Pushkin.
On March 2 the Uralochka competitive sports center of Yekaterinburg hosted a festive opening of Gazprom's Winter Spartakiada Games.
