Significance
The Murmansk – Volkhov gas pipeline will ensure gas supplies from the Shtokman field to consumers in Northwestern Russia and gas exports via Nord Stream. In particular, the gas pipeline construction will allow implementing the socially significant gasification program in the Murmansk Oblast and Karelia, thus boosting industrial development of the region.
Technical Features
Gas pipeline length – 1,365 kilometers. Projected annual capacity – up to 50 billion cubic meters of gas depending on the Shtokman field output. It is planned to construct 10 compressor stations.
Current status
Initial data acquisition has been carried out. The engineering survey is underway and the project documentation is being prepared.
