Reference:
Gazprom and Gaz de France have been cooperating in the gas supply sector since 1975. 90% of gas consumed in France originates from cross-border procurement under long-term contracts, with Russian natural gas share accounting for some 25% of this amount. Thus, Russia is one of the leading “blue fuel” suppliers to France.
At the same time, Gazprom and Gaz de France’s cooperation goes beyond just merely gas business. The firms have taken active part in the development of cultural relations between Russia and France. The unique Art-Historical Exhibition “Great Emperors of Europe: Napoleon I and Alexander I” organized by the State History Museum in conjunction with the 2 companies was an integral part of the 2000 celebrations dedicated to the 25-year anniversary of gas deliveries to France.
Marking the 300-year anniversary of Saint-Petersburg, in May 2003, Gazprom and Gaz de France together with the Townhall of Paris and French Association for Artistic Action presented in the State Hermitage Museum a retrospective Exhibition of Nicolas de Staлl – one of the most prominent French painters of the 20th century.
In November last year, Gaz de France and Gazprom assisted orphans from the Boarding School N62 of the Moscow South-West Administrative District in attending the Federation Cup Tennis Finals.
The Saint-Petersburg Integrated School of Highest Sporting Performance traces its roots to the Youth Sports School N2 founded in 1946. The School is mainly focused on training sportsmen capable to show high results at national and world championships.
Over its multy-year history, the School prepared a whole range of internationally renowned sportsmen: Olympic, World and European champions and prize winners.
In 2004, the School sent 5 athletes in 3 kinds of sports (including Judo, Fencing and Shooting) to the Olympic Games held in Greece. Tea Donguzashvili (Judo) and Yuri Molchan (Fencing) became bronze- medal winners.
At present, the School is improving sports skills of 105 athletes, including 6 Meritorious Masters in Sports, 21 Masters in Sports of International Class, 63 Masters in Sports and 15 Candidates of Master in Sports. The athletes are being trained by 26 coaches/instructors, including 13 Meritorious Coaches of the USSR and Russia.
