Dr. Burckhard Bergmann was born on February 11, 1943, in Sendenhorst, Germany.
Mr. Bergmann graduated from Aachen University (Institute) of Technology in 1968.
From 1968 to 1969 he worked at the Federal Ministry for Research and Technology, and at Julich Nuclear Research Center from 1969 to 1972. In 1972 he joined Ruhrgas AG as Head of LNG Purchasing Department.
Dr. B. Bergmann was Head of Gas Purchasing Division responsible for natural gas purchasing from 1978 to 1980, Member of the Executive Board responsible for gas Purchasing from 1980 to 1996, Vice-Chairman of the Executive Board from 1996 to 2001, and has been Chairman of the Board of Ruhrgas AG since June 22, 2001.
