Technical failure in the gas transmission system per 1000 km |
In the 1970s and 80s, when the gas transmission system was being built, Gazprom provided it with a substantial reliability margin. As at December 31, 2005, gas mains were, on an average, in operation for 22 years. The pipeline sustainable functioning is secured through up-to-date diagnostics and preventive maintenance and repair.
Gazprom is implementing the Comprehensive Upgrading and Technical Re-equipment Program for Gas Transmission Facilities and Compressor Stations for UGS facilities over 2007 to 2010 which was developed due to the Program ending for the period from 2002 to 2006.
Within the scope of the Upgrading Program, all the necessary actions taken prevented the gas transmission system from losing 16 bcm of its throughput capacity, providing capacity increase of the gas transmission system by 2.3 bcm of gas, decreasing the level of nitrogen oxide and carbon dioxide emissions by 5.8 and 2.4 thousand tons per year, respectively. The UGS reconstruction carried out significantly stimulated to increase average daily UGS productivity within the December-February period by 39.8 mcm.
The main goals of the Complex Program over 2007-2010 is to increase gas transmission system effectiveness, provide transmission of planned gas flows and reliability of the gas transmission system operating activity as well as increase production and ecological safety of gas transmission facilities.
The main tasks of the gas transmission system reconstruction up to 2010 are the following:
In the frames of the Complex Program over 2007 to 2010, particularly, it is planned to:
