In January, Gazprom won the tender for development of the offshore Indian gas field in the Bay of Bengal.
In January, Gazprom and BASF/Wintershall AG signed an Agreement of cooperation in the sci-tech sector involving telecommunications sphere, automation sources and information science for 2000.
On February 1, the foundation conference of Gazprom’s Neftegazstroyprofsoyuz Interregional Trade Union (ITU) of the Russian Federation was held. The conference approved the ITU Charter and Provision on the Auditing Committee. The ITU Council was elected as a governing body consisting of 53 members.
On February 3, the first joint of the Blue Stream gas pipeline was welded.
In March, Gazprom and Ruhrgas AG signed an Agreement of scientific and technological cooperation for 2000.
In April, the Gazprom Headquarters hosted a meeting between Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation and Gazprom’s top management.
In April, Gazprom and the General Committee of the Russian Academy of Sciences held a joint meeting on establishing a solid basis for technological innovations and fastest gas industry re-equipment.
On June 14, Gazprom and the InterRos Holding Company entered into a General Agreement of cooperation.
On June 15, Gazprom and Wintershall signed a Memorandum of cooperation to develop the Prirazlomnoye field in the Barents Sea.
On June 30, the regular Gazprom Annual General Shareholders’ Meeting took place. The number of votes of the shareholders who personally took part in the assembly meeting, through their representatives, or who sent their voting bulletins to the counting board accounted for 90.75 per cent of the total. The Meeting approved the solutions related to the Blue Stream project financing.
On July 25, it was announced about the set up of the Caspian Oil Company. The constituent documents were signed by Gazprom, Yukos and Lukoil. The main goal of the Caspian Oil Company set up is to provide prospecting, exploration and development of oil and gas fields in the Caspian Basin. Within the summer period of 2000 the Kara Sea shelf on the territory of the Ob Bay was intensively explored. The exploration results revealed existing considerable natural gas resources in this area (1-3 tcm of gas).
On September 18, Gazprom, Gaz de France, SNAM, Wintershall and Ruhrgas AG signed an Agreement on establishing a consortium to construct a pipeline connection from Poland to Slovakia.
On November 15, the authorized representatives of the Gazprom Interregional Trade Union and Gazprom’s top managers entered into a Tariff Agreement over 2001 to 2003.
In December, the Yubileinoye gas field was commissioned at full (Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug).
On December 9, Ostafievo International Airport of Gazprom was put into service. The airport started systematic trips of Gazpromavia planes to Yamal and other regions. The airport is also used by other air companies.
