In February, Gazprom and ENI signed a Memorandum of understanding to jointly implement the Blue Stream project.
On June 30, the Gazprom Annual General Shareholders’ Meeting took place to summarize the company’s activity for five years. The company succeeded in retaining achieved high rates of gas production, ensuring growth of gas condensate production and processing as well as liquid hydrocarbons production. 11 shareholders were elected to the Board of Directors by majority of votes. The meeting accepted the Board of Directors’ proposals on introducing a number of changes to the Gazprom Charter.
On August 26, an extraordinary Gazprom’s Shareholders Meeting was held in the aim to change the Board’s membership.
In September and the following months, the first section of the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline was commissioned on the Belarusian territory from the Nesvizh compressor station to the Polish border; the linear part of the gas pipeline in Poland as well as the Kondratki and Wloclawek compressor stations. The section from the Malnow compressor station to Ruekersdorf (STEGAL gas pipeline) in Germany was also commissioned to export nearly 14 bcm of gas in 2000 via the new route.
On December 21, Gazexport and Gasunie signed a contract to import Russian gas to the Netherlands.
