Although Joint Stock Company SIBUR Holding appeared on the business scene as late as in December 2005, it has already made a name for itself in and outside Russia. From the strategic viewpoint it’s of vital importance that SIBUR Holding is a major subsidiary of JSC Gazprom. Thanks to Gazprom’s support, its petrochemical subsidiary Sibur managed to survive the year 2002, which was really tough for the Company, and significantly increased production and operation efficiency. The Gazprom Board of Directors’ decision of February 4, 2005 to establish a new company on the basis of JSC AK Sibur’s petrochemical assets marked the final stage in petrochemical business reorganization. As a result, JSC SIBUR Holding was born.
At present, SIBUR Holding leads Russia in output volumes. JSC SIBUR Holding specializes in the downstream processing of the hydrocarbon and other materials under contracts with various manufacturing plants. The Company processes materials into a line of semi-finished and finished petrochemical products and sells them in domestic and foreign markets. JSC SIBUR Holding has controlling interest in some of such manufacturing facilities and a share in their authorized capital stock. Over 50 independent petrochemical enterprises help keep the Company’s production cycle going.
JSC SIBUR Holding is a vertically integrated setup that processes considerable volumes of hydrocarbon stock in Russia all along the line starting from primary treatment all the way to consumer product manufacturing. The enterprises that make up the Holding produce over one hundred petrochemical products.
Liquefied domestic gas, high-octane gasoline additive (MTBE), glycols, polyvinylchloride, caprolactam, polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, synthetic rubbers, tyres, rubber goods, engineering material, man-made fibers and threads are the basic products manufactured by the holding’s enterprises.
