Company history

Computerization of the gas industry, which is an integral part of Gazprom Inform’s activities, dates back to the 1960s. On July 1, 1976, a computer center established at the VNIIGAZ Institute was granted the status of a legal entity as the Main Computer Center of the Gas Industry Ministry. This date is the official starting point of Gazprom Inform, which celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2016.

Informgaz, the successor to the Main Computer Center established in 1997, ensured the operation of the Automated Dispatch Control System within the Unified Gas Supply System of Russia (ADCS of UGSS) and other information systems of Gazprom’s Administration, as well as provided technical and information support to Gazprom Group’s Administration, subsidiaries and organizations.

Informgazinvest was established in September 1998 as Gazprom’s wholly-owned IT engineering subsidiary. The company mainly served as a provider of automated management systems for Gazprom’s Administration and subsidiaries. In 2007, Informgazinvest became Gazprom’s single project owner and developer responsible for the construction and upgrade of automation and computerization systems.

Gazprom Inform, Gazprom Group’s unified IT service subsidiary, was established on July 22, 2010. The company was formed through the merger of Informgaz and Informgazinvest, with a purpose to create a single point of responsibility for implementing key initiatives under Gazprom’s Informatization Strategy.
