Computerization of the gas industry, which is an integral part of Gazprom Inform’s activities, dates back to the 1960s. On July 1, 1976, a computer center established at the VNIIGAZ Institute was granted the status of a legal entity as the Main Computer Center of the Gas Industry Ministry. This date is the official starting point of Gazprom Inform, which celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2016.

Informgaz, the successor to the Main Computer Center established in 1997, ensured the operation of the Automated Dispatch Control System within the Unified Gas Supply System of Russia (ADCS of UGSS) and other information systems of Gazprom’s Administration, as well as provided technical and information support to Gazprom Group’s Administration, subsidiaries and organizations.
Informgazinvest was established in September 1998 as Gazprom’s wholly-owned IT engineering subsidiary. The company mainly served as a provider of automated management systems for Gazprom’s Administration and subsidiaries. In 2007, Informgazinvest became Gazprom’s single project owner and developer responsible for the construction and upgrade of automation and computerization systems.
Early 2000s. Receipt of technical data
Gazprom Inform, Gazprom Group’s unified IT service subsidiary, was established on July 22, 2010. The company was formed through the merger of Informgaz and Informgazinvest, with a purpose to create a single point of responsibility for implementing key initiatives under Gazprom’s Informatization Strategy. The unified company aimed to centralize IT management processes at Gazprom by adopting a common policy for information management system maintenance and support, as well as by maintaining and developing the integrated IT infrastructure.

As Gazprom’s unified IT service subsidiary, Gazprom Inform implements a number of core initiatives within the Informatization Strategy. The company has state accreditation in the field of information technology.
Control room of Gazprom’s Data Processing Center
One of Gazprom Inform’s primary functions is to provide services across the full life cycle (from setting up and commissioning to maintenance and further improvement) of hardware and software for information management systems at Gazprom Group’s Administration and subsidiaries. Gazprom selected a software platform developed by SAP, a world leader in the enterprise management solutions market, as the basis for its integrated information environment. Gazprom Inform was certified by SAP as Gazprom’s Center of Expertise that provides centralized support to all SAP systems at Gazprom and controls their integration and upgrade.
Gazprom Inform’s employees have ample opportunities for professional development
Gazprom Inform carries out hardware maintenance and repair, ensures licensing and support for software and information security tools, and provides Gazprom’s Administration and subsidiaries with access to news agencies. Safe and smooth operation of Gazprom’s Data Processing Centers is among the company’s top priorities.
The company’s short-term prospects are linked to the implementation of Gazprom’s Informatization Strategy. One of its major goals is to develop, introduce, and continuously support corporate information management systems arranged by Gazprom’s lines of business for the Company’s gas industry subsidiaries. To that end, Gazprom Inform is expanding its branch network, which currently consists of 17 branch companies across Russia. Further expansion will take place as the number of operational goals increases.
Gazprom Inform’s ongoing development efforts include an import substitution program: the company is transitioning to the software produced by Russian vendors while advanced domestic solutions for server hardware and data storage systems are being tested.
