Andrey Melnichenko is Director General of Gazprom Dobycha Astrakhan.
He was born in January 1964 in Grozny (Checheno-Ingush Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic).

Geography of Gazprom Dobycha Astrakhan’s activities
The Astrakhanskoye gas and condensate field discovered in 1976 is located near the Volga River delta, 50–80 kilometers north from Astrakhan. The field is distinctive for the high content of hydrogen sulfide in its formation fluid (up to 25 per cent), formation depth (4,000–4,100 meters), and formation temperature (110 degrees Celsius) and pressure (over 600 atmospheres).
Field development began on December 31, 1986, as the first train of the Astrakhan gas complex, the USSR’s main sulfur producer, was put onstream.

Gazprom Dobycha Astrakhan is a major gas chemical complex, unique to Russia’s industry. Today, the company unites 14 structural units in one processing chain.

Gazprom Dobycha Astrakhan’s major activities are as follows:
- production of gas and gas condensate;
- production and marketing of sulfur, commercial gas, gasoline, diesel and boiler fuel, and liquefied gases;
- major overhaul of key assets;
- environmental protection in all the company’s activities;
- provision of production facilities with technological communications and automated management systems;
- delivery of freight and passenger transportation services;
- implementation of vocational and advanced development programs for personnel.

The company produces the whole range of motor gasolines, diesel fuel, heating oil, natural gas for industrial and household purposes, and technical sulfur (liquid, block, and granulated).

Gazprom Dobycha Astrakhan won the National Ecology Award in the Ecological Management category (2007) for its efforts aimed at creating and introducing an environmental management system. The company received prestigious awards, namely the Hi-Tech Star Award (2008) and the National Ecology Award (2009), for adopting cutting-edge technologies that meet modern technical and environmental requirements. In 2013, the company’s development team was awarded Gazprom’s Science and Technology Prize for the project entitled Development and Introduction of Organizational and Technical Solutions for Production of Green Motor Fuel in Compliance with European Quality Requirements at Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant Owned by Gazprom Dobycha Astrakhan. The award-winning project allowed the company to meet Gazprom’s requirement concerning the use of extracted hydrocarbon feedstock to its full potential, to launch the production of products conforming to relevant environmental requirements, and to achieve world-class standards, including in the field of safety and environmental protection, at the Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant.
Gazprom Dobycha Astrakhan tops the list of regional companies with a high level of social responsibility. In 2010, the company won the Russian Organization of High Social Efficiency contest in the Healthy Corporate Lifestyle category. Gazprom Dobycha Astrakhan won the Grand Prix of the Russian Organization of High Social Efficiency contest in 2012 and took the first place in the Contribution to Solving Regional Social Issues and Development of Corporate Charity category in 2016. The winners of the nationwide Health and Safety contest for the best innovative solution ensuring a safe working environment were announced during the 2nd All-Russian Occupational Safety Week. Gazprom Dobycha Astrakhan won in the Development and Introduction of Highly Efficient Occupational Safety Management Systems category.

Gazprom Dobycha Astrakhan contributes substantially to the cultural and physical development of its employees and their families. The company’s arts and performance groups actively participate in the Fakel corporate festival, while its sports teams take part in Gazprom’s Spartakiada Games.
Gazprom Dobycha Astrakhan’s cultural center unites arts groups of all ages, numbering over 2,000 people. The company’s sports club has 14 different sports sections open not only for the children of the company’s employees, but also for all interested youngsters from Astrakhan.
The recalculation of deposit reserves in the left part of the Astrakhanskoye gas and condensate field added 510 billion cubic meters of gas and 146.8 million tons of gas condensate to commercial reserves in the licensed block of Gazprom Dobycha Astrakhan. Since the beginning of the field’s development, Astrakhanskoye has produced 220 billion cubic meters of gas. However, that addition of 510 billion cubic meters has compensated the gas volumes produced over the past thirty years.
