Gazprom Gazoraspredeleniye was set up on October 1, 2004, in order to consolidate Gazprom Group’s gas distribution assets. The company manages the operations of gas distribution organizations in the Russian Federation.

At the time of its inception, the holding company controlled 56 entities, with the length of operated networks totaling 418 thousand kilometers.
Today, Gazprom Gazoraspredeleniye Group includes 235 companies present in 68 Russian regions. The overall headcount is over 120 thousand persons.
As of January 1, 2013, the Group operated and maintained 650.9 thousand kilometers of gas pipelines.
The mission of Gazprom Gazoraspredeleniye is to ensure smooth, safe, and trouble-free gas supply to consumers in the Russian Federation.

Gazprom Gazoraspredeleniye is focused on:
- corporate management of gas distribution organizations;
- implementation of a common financial, economic and technical policy, along with a comprehensive approach to safety and security in the gas distribution sector;
- reconstruction and upgrading of gas distribution facilities;
- drafting of long-term gasification programs for Russia’s regions as a customer and developer under the Russian Regions Gasification Program of Gazprom;
- development and execution of the industry advancement strategy and industry-specific engineering standards;
- operation of company-owned gas grids;
- personnel training for the gas distribution sector.
Safe use of natural gas by consumers is a matter of paramount importance to Gazprom Gazoraspredeleniye.
Every year, campaigns and events are organized across Russia to promote safety rules for gas equipment. In 2010, the Secrets of Natural Gas for Schoolchildren project was launched. Secrets of Natural Gas, a unique and first-of-its-kind children’s book about natural gas, was published as part of the project. Russia’s first natural gas-themed information website for children is up and running.
Youngsters express keen interest in Secrets of Natural Gas for Schoolchildren
In the course of the project, professionals from gas distribution organizations held thousands of training sessions on the safe use of gas equipment. More than 600 thousand children from over 60 Russian regions took part in the initiative.
The Secrets of Natural Gas for Schoolchildren project won an award at the Third Corporate Competition among PR offices of Gazprom subsidiaries in the Best Social or Industry Project category.
Secrets of Natural Gas for Schoolchildren events held across Russia
The holding company developed and approved the Technical Development Strategy for Gazprom Gazoraspredeleniye’s gas distribution systems between 2012 and 2020. The Strategy is based on four new national standards in the field of gas distribution that entered into force on January 1, 2013.
The program for the reconstruction and retrofitting of gas distribution networks and equipment is an essential part of the Strategy. The program is aimed at increasing the safety and reliability of gas networks, reducing capital and operational costs, ensuring environmental protection, lessening process losses of gas, and improving overall economic efficiency as a result.
