Alexander Ananenkov was born in Sterlitamak, Bashkir ASSR on May 13, 1952.
Education
Alexander Ananenkov graduated from the Ufa Petroleum Institute and the Academy of National Economy under the Council of Ministers of the USSR.
Professional experience
Alexander Ananenkov has been employed in the gas industry since 1969.
1989–1994
Deputy Director General at the Yamburg Gas Production Directorate of the Urengoygazprom Production Association (present Gazprom dobycha Urengoy).
1994–1997
First Deputy Director General, Chief Engineer at the Yamburggazdobycha Production Association (present Gazprom dobycha Yamburg).

Director General of Yamburggazdobycha.
2001–2011
Deputy Chairman of the Management Committee of Gazprom.
Since 2002 – Member of the Gazprom Board of Directors.
