Leonid Chugunov was born on May 17, 1956 in the city of Grozny, the Chechen Republic.
Education
Leonid Chugunov graduated from the Grozny Oil Institute.
He passed advanced training in the Moscow Oil and Gas Industry Institute, the National Economy Institute, the Fuqua School of Business of Duke University, the Academy of National Economy under the Russian Federation Government.
He has a PhD in Engineering.
Leonid Chugunov is a member (academician) of the Academy of Technological Sciences.
Professional experience
Leonid Chugunov has been working in the gas industry for 30 years now. He started his labor activity in the natural gas production and transmission company Nadymgazprom under the Gas Industry Ministry of the USSR (currently – Gazprom dobycha Nadym), where he held a range of positions from an oil and gas production operator to Director General.

Head of the Project Management Department, Gazprom.
